Half and Half Rolls

By: Nicole Fraser

Ingredients

2 Tbsp. yeast dissolved in 1/3 cup warm water
2 cups hot water
1/2 cup sugar or honey
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups wheat flour (I prefer white wheat)
1 tsp. salt

Directions

In a stand mixer, beat sugar, butter and hot water together. (I put a kitchen towel over the mixer to prevent water splashing everywhere.) Add eggs, yeast in water and baking powder. Mix well. Add flours and salt, mixing after each. Let rise in warm place covered with kitchen towel for 2 hours (or until dough is over the top of the bowl). Form into rolls. (I usually make 2 dozen from this recipe.) Let rise again (about 1 hour) and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
